CMHC is out with their housing information monthly report here. To find housing starts and units under construction for Saskatoon scroll down to page 117. Housing starts in June were 311, compared to 170 at the same time last year. Housing starts from Jan to June were 1285, compared to 707 in the same time period as last year. Units presently under construction are at 1850, compared to 1249 at the same time period last year. I believe summer of 2008 was the only time period with a higher number of units under construction than now.
Inventory will most likely stay abnormally high for the foreseeable future.
